September 22-28, 2025
Katie turned one on Saturday! She has twelve teeth right now, all eight of her incisors and four molars. She can stand for a few seconds before falling and she can move her feet pretty quickly when she's holding on to something.
Mary would finish her applesauce pouch then fill it with air and pretend it was a musical instrument. She called it a choppecher/ troppecher. She is getting better at reading. She asks me throughout the day about letters in the words she sees and says.
I didn't garden as much this week because we had a ton of mosquitos. We all got eaten alive at the beginning of the week and avoided being outside the rest of the week.
Dad is feeling better about work this week. Things still happen that make him mad but he is seeing more of the good and choosing to be grateful. He works so hard and I'm very proud of everything he's accomplished.
Monday the Durocher's came over to play. Tuesday Mary had her tumbling class. Wednesday night I went to mutual. I took Reese Johnson and Joy Seamons to Rose Bagwell's house to wish her a happy birthday, then we went back to the church and played games, the three of us, until the other youth came back from their visits. Thursday we went to the church for the weekly exercise class. Lindsay taught rev and flo. Friday we went to the park with balloons and cupcakes and had a little birthday party for Katie. The Durocher's got her a little toy school bus. Paul came home early with some Mexican food for dinner. We had the leftover cupcakes and Katie opened the rest of her presents. She got fun toys from Nana and Grandma Terry.

Saturday was Katie's actual birthday but I'm glad we celebrated the day before because it was a busy day. I played tennis in the morning then did the grocery shopping. I taught violin in the afternoon then came home and made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins to take to the girl's night that night. Penelope hosted and ShaLay, Victoria Tardoni, Taylor Jacobsen, Bailey, and Lindsay were all there. Penelope made a really yummy feta pasta and Lindsay brought pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, we were feeling the same vibe. We had dinner then played a Pride and Prejudice card game then watched Austenland.
Sunday we got up and decided to drive to an apple farm that's east of Sacramento. We went a couple of years ago and wanted to visit again. We drove out there and looked around their craft tents. We did a hayride and Mary and Katie played on their little playground. Paul got some apple donuts and I got a really yummy slice of their caramel crunch apple pie. We watched the horses but we didn't bring cash so we couldn't have Mary ride a pony. We'll have to remember that for next year. On the way home we stopped at a greasy spoon for dinner and Paul loved the root beer freeze he got. It was a really fun and much needed day together as a family.
