Monday we got our cars done in Reno and had some fun at the mall before going home for me to teach my violin lesson.  Happy birthday to Miles on Tuesday!  I had an OB appointment on Tuesday and practiced for a musical number that night for Easter on Sunday.  Wednesday we had a playdate with the Gochenour's where Mary got to feed their bunnies.  We got together with them again on Thursday to color eggs.   Friday we did some yard work, which was good timing because it rained and snowed over the weekend.  Saturday it poured when we went to the park for the city's Easter Egg hunt. Mary had a lot of fun despite the rain but her hands got really cold.  We taught Paula with the sisters then had the sisters over for dinner on Easter.  We found out one of the sister's mom knows Wendy, it was fun to make that connection.  The musical number went well at church.  Mary loved her Easter basket full of gifts from both grandm...

Monday was nice weather so we got to play outside and do some yard work.  When Paul got home we went out for pizza then I taught my violin lesson.  Tuesday we went to volleyball and went to the park in the afternoon with Megan and Kynlee before their move. Wednesday we went to the park with the Gochenour's and I went to a tri-ward RS meeting, which I feel like could have been a text exchange but what can you do.. Thursday we went to Reno to get the first ultrasound of our new baby!  I'm 12 weeks and due October 1st.  After the appointment we went to the park and I tried taking a cute photo of Mary holding the ultrasound pictures to send to family but she just wanted to play haha.  I eventually got one and we let you all know we're expecting.  Mary loves her Big Sister shirt so much, she wanted to sleep in it and wear it the whole next day.  That evening I got a little more yard work done before the sun went down.  Friday I took Mary to the ...

Monday was the 7th anniversary of the day Paul and I got engaged.  I taught violin that evening and it went well, each lesson gets progressively better, which is a lot of fun for me.  Mary and I were still sick this week, so we didn't get out and do much.  Happy birthday to Bethany on Friday!   Mary didn't seem to be getting better from her cold, so we went to the pediatrician on Friday.  She does just have a cold, which was a relief.  The doctor said she just needed a couple of more days to get over it.  I think it helped that Mary took a four hour nap earlier that day.  I made dinner for a family in the ward when we got back from the doctor then made our dinner.   Saturday was very warm and we had spent the whole week inside so from 11am to 5 pm Mary and I were outside.  She jumped on the trampoline and I did some yard work then we went to the park and ran into Kynlee and Megan and we hung out with them for a...

Monday I taught my violin lesson.  It is fun to see my student get better each week.  We babysat Josie and Jack on Wednesday because their normal baby sitter's kids were sick, but they showed up with coughs and runny noses.  Because of this, Mary was up all night because she got sick and she got a fever.  I got a little scratchy throat and a runny nose and luckily Paul did not get sick.   We did get to play outside a lot this week, which was really nice.  It wasn't really warm but it was clear and only rained once.  Sunday we had church then we went on a walk.  Later that night I had a RS meeting and Paul put Mary to bed.   Some cute things Mary said this week are that she would drink some water, close her eyes, and whisper, "mmm, so good."  Also, whenever she would bump her knee or toes she would say, "ouch! that hurt!" then keep playing.  While we were at the park she would have me give her a push to go down ...

Paul had his day off on Monday so we went to the park for a little bit and went to Fallon to get Mary some Easter dresses since she grew out of her short sleeved dresses.  I taught violin that night and it was a good lesson.  Mary likes to pretend to call me on the phone.  She'll say, "Ring ring! Hello! What's up? Bye bye, boop."  She fell asleep that night holding my hand, she's such a sweet little girl. Tuesday we went to the church for volleyball.  ShaLay taught me some techniques to help me get better.  We're planning on playing tennis in the summertime.  It was pretty warm when we got home so Mary played outside for a little while, she still loves the trampoline.  She got the idea that the trampoline ladder could be used in other places, so she carried it around the house trying to set it up to reach items purposefully put out of her reach.  That night I went to a get-together at Debbie's house (the to-be new RS president) with th...

Monday was Paul's day off so we went to Reno for lunch and played at the park but it was getting cold, so we didn't stay long.  I taught violin that night.  Tuesday we went to volleyball in the morning, I got a little sore but it was a lot of fun.  Wednesday we had a playdate with the Gochenour's and got to meet their two new bunnies, Chocolate and Caramel.   Thursday we went to the park with Kynlee and Mary was in heaven getting to play on the swings.  Friday morning I Facetimed with Clare (Gottschall) Schramm.  It was nice to catch up with her.  It was really warm in the afternoon, so we went back to the park and met up with the Gochenour's again.  When we got home I asked Mary if she wanted to go inside and she said, "yes, please!" Happy birthday to Matt on Saturday.  Our Saturday plans were cancelled and it was so warm outside that I took the trampoline out of the garage and built it in the backyard.  I should h...

Paul is on a new work schedule where he works Tuesday through Saturday and gets Sunday and Monday off.  So Monday was kind of like Saturday for us, we went to a new Greek restaurant in Reno and it was super yummy.  I taught violin that night and it went well.   Tuesday was my birthday-thank you for all the birthday wishes!  It was pretty casual since we had celebrated over the weekend.  I talked to the new RS president I will be serving with and we talked about some ideas for the coming year.  I Facetimed with Mom and Dad that night while Paul was in a work meeting.   Valentine's Day was fun, we got a valentine in the mail from Addie that had a Mr. Potato head picture and some stickers to put on his eyes, mouth, etc.  While Mary was putting the stickers on I gave her some kisses and she said, "no kisses mom!"  We watched some videos of Olaf and one of them kind of scared Mary.  She said, "Too scary! ... again?" haha it w...

Monday we checked out of our hotel, grabbed some breakfast then drove home.  It was pretty rainy in LA that morning but most of the drive home was clear, which I was really grateful for because it was supposed to snow by our house and it didn't.   When we got home I taught Lizzy her violin lesson and we are learning the variations of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Thursday we went to the weekly play group which was a lot of fun.  When we were home I sneezed and Mary gave me a concerned look and said, "are you sick?" and she got me a blanket.  It was so sweet.  Friday Mary woke me up by showing me her colorful bracelets. "Look! Mom! Purple o'clock, red o'clock!"  We went over to the Gochenour's house and Mary got to meet their new bunny, Oreo!  Mary and EverLee loved feeding the bunny and petting it.   Saturday we were playing in Mary's room and she was looking at the tags on her stuffed animals and some of them had a lot of tags and...

Mary was still sick at the beginning of the week and unfortunately Paul and I got it too.  The weather was really beautiful though so Mary and I still went outside and did some yard work while Paul was at work.  When Mary disagreed with us she would say "no way!" Then I was climbing up our hill to get to Mary and she said, "That's it! Good job!"  and when she would throw her ball she would say, "I'll get it!" before chasing after it. Congratulations to Jacob and Brianna on the birth of their third daughter, Violet Ophelia, on Thursday! Saturday we drove down to LA.  Sunday we went to Disneyland.   We started by Paul taking Mary to the treehouse and the Jungle Cruise while I went on the Indiana Jones ride then we switched.  We met up and did the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Winnie the Pooh ride and Mary got to meet Pooh and Eeyore.  We went to Toon Town and Mary got to meet Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.  She was the most excited to ...

Monday I taught Lizzy her second violin lesson and it went well.  We were able to build on what we did last time and her mom said she is having a lot of fun learning.   Mary says, "What are you doing?" "What's happening?" We call her bath duck Golf Boy because he has golf clubs and Mary calls him, "Duck boy!"  Then she will show me something and say, "Do you like it?"  and now she asks, "Why not?" instead of just "Why?" Wednesday we had a playdate with the Gochenour's.  Thursday we did the weekly play group, and Friday we did a playdate with the Gochenour's again and Megan and Kynlee.  It was so fun.  Mary says "goodnight" very clearly and it is so sweet.  She will fix something and say, "That's better!" Saturday we went to Paula's house and Mary played with Penny while we had a spiritual discussion with the sister missionaries.  After we got home we met up with Paul and spent the afte...

Monday morning we got up at 4:30 am and drove Paul to the airport.  Paul flew all day and got to Osaka, Japan Monday at 11:30 pm PST/Tuesday 4:30 PM local time.  His boss, Hiro, picked him up from the airport and took him out to dinner, they got Shabu Shabu.  On Wednesday, Hiro picked Paul and the chemical engineer he was with up first thing in the morning and they drove from Osaka to Kyoto. They first saw a Shinto religious site called the Fushimi Inari Shrine. This is a place that has thousands of gateways that represent prayers for prosperity that different individuals and companies have purchased to be erected. They are supposed to help with the prosperity of your business. After this they went to this market street that overlooked a famous pagoda in Kyoto. There we tried mochi on a stick (which isn’t ice-cream in Japan nor is it sweet. It’s like a ball of rice paste with some sticky soy sauce on it). There were lots of cool shops and a small Studio Ghibli muse...
