Monday we got a text from a cat shelter we visited over the weekend to get some feedback for why we didn't adopt the cat we looked at and Paul relented and said we could adopt her after I bugged him about it "relentlessly". Tuesday Mary and I went to the church and had a playdate with the Gochenour's for a couple of hours. We met up with Paul for lunch and that evening I had my first meeting with the activity committee to plan our activity for May.
Wednesday I did some deep cleaning and I facetimed with Clare Schramm in the afternoon. That night we drove to Reno and picked up our new cat, Izzy. She's a 3 year old domestic shorthair. She was terrified when we brought her home and she stayed behind the washing machine for the first 24 hours, only coming out to use her litter box and eat.
Thursday we went to the weekly exercise class/ play group then went to April Kimball's house for a little play date. Mary and April's son, William, had a blast playing in the backyard, on the trampoline, and Mary loved meeting the bunnies, chickens, and quails, she even helped April gather some eggs. We went home for lunch to check on Izzy but she wasn't ready to come out yet. In the afternoon we met up with ShaLay and Megan at the park. There were a lot of kids there and they all played together, which was so fun for Mary. On the way home from the park she said, "played with friends at the park! So fun!" Then she talked about how they played on the slide, swings, and in the grass together. That night we got Izzy out from behind the washer with some kitty treats we got from April. Izzy is a pretty social cat, so I think she was pretty lonely.
Friday we visited Paula in the morning. Paula was so sweet and gave me an orchid for Mother's Day. The rest of the day Mary played with Izzy and Izzy was only a little apprehensive, Mary was in heaven. Saturday we did a lot of yard work cutting the grass, pulling weeds, and top treating the lawn. We started to see grass sprouting in the new area where we planted more grass seed. We went for a walk and took Mary to the park for a little bit. Sunday was Mother's Day and I got beautiful flowers from Paul. We had a nice day of being together as a family and enjoying the warm weather. Paul taught Mary how to do a pinky swear and she has loved giving us pinky promises this week.
