March 30 - April 5, 2026
Katie copies words we say all the time now. She said red, walk, shoes, socks, eyes, and more. She knows what a lot of words mean when I talk to her, even if she doesn't quite say them yet. She watched Mary intently and tries to copy everything she does.
Mary asks to go to Nana's house and see Aunt Eliza so they can make bracelets together. She also suggested we invite Grandma Wendy over to our house. (Me: The hair clip is just for decoration) Mary: "For decoration?? But I’m not a tree!"
Mom had a great first few days of keto and she is excited for her new project with ShaLay restoring some fun furniture she found for free! She also had a good week of spring cleaning.
Dad will meet 1:1 with the CTO of redwood for being a top performer under the VP of Cathode manufacturing (Ivor). Dad's worried that Redwood will go out of business before next summer. He's also worried about worldwide conflict and how it will impact our economy. He's stressed about the house and money and how out of control things feel right now. He ended the weekend seeming more hopeful and excited about going to law school and moving back to Utah.
Monday we had Josie and Jack over. All the kids played really well together this week. That night I taught violin. Tuesday Mary had her dance class. Katie and I ran errands because it was too rainy to go to the park. We went to the library after we picked Mary back up, we borrowed a Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Katie was poopy during her nap time, so she ended up not taking one. We watched a movie together (Emperor's New Groove) that night as a family and she fell asleep in my arms. Wednesday I started my month of Keto. I will be focusing on protein and fiber and keep my net carbs under 50 grams each day for the whole month of April. Wednesday we normally go to the park but our friends were not available this week so I took the opportunity to do some spring cleaning.
Thursday I went for a run and saw someone put out some furniture on their curb for free. When we went to the church for the exercise class, on the way I dropped off a couple bags of toys to a neighbor who wanted them, then I went by that neighbors house and grabbed some of the furniture. I took a desk, mirror, and chair back home before we went to the church. I gave ShaLay almost all my silver jewelry since it is not in my season and I haven't been wearing it anyways. I showed her pictures of the furniture I just picked up to ShaLay and asked her about fixing them up. She said she has all the tools and would be happy to help me get them in good shape. I'm so excited! I want to use them for a little color studio, so we'll see! She'll be out of town for a few weeks, so my homework is to figure out what color I want to paint it.
That night I went to mutual. I made a jeopardy game for the young women to help us get ready for conference. Friday we stayed home and I did more spring cleaning. I finished going through the whole house! I posted stuff on Facebook Marketplace and the community mom chat to see if anyone wanted anything. A good number of things were claimed, hopefully the rest will be bought up soon.
Saturday I ran a 10k then made myself a delicious keto breakfast burrito with duck egg, sausage, and avocado. Mary slept in until after 9. After she got up and the girls ate their waffles, we went on a family drive. Then we walked up to the canal and enjoyed exploring in the dirt, throwing rocks in the water, and being together. We came home and were all tired out. Katie and Dad took a nap while Mary and I cuddled and watched a movie. I taught violin that afternoon.
Sunday was Easter but we did all our Easter stuff last week. Dad went on his morning walk while I bathed the girls and straightened up and watered the grass and plants. He got home and we turned conference on while the girls ate breakfast. We did some meal prep for the week then went on a family walk between sessions. Katie was so sleepy and ready for her nap when we got home. I broke my fast at 1 then fell asleep during the second session of conference. The primary president (Nicole Hardman) came by in the afternoon and dropped off Easter goodie bags to Mary and Katie, it was really nice of her. I wasn't expecting her and was a little embarrassed that I answered the door looking a little disheveled. We watched some movies then played outside. We read scriptures then played some games before going to bed.
