December 19-25 2022

Monday started out interestingly because I was giving Mary a bath when she decided it was a good time to take a big poop. I'm not sure that she got as clean as I was hoping. I got her cleaned up and then washed her towel, bath toys, and the bath.

Wednesday, I got the apartment all cleaned up and got us packed for the weekend. We watched It's a Wonderful Life that evening and gave Mary her Christmas present, a little baby doll. Matt drove us to the airport Thursday morning. Wendy, Rachel, Emily, and Andy picked us up in Provo. We met up with Grandpa Sam and Grandma Terry for lunch at Brick Oven Pizza. After that, we drove up to Bountiful and visited Grandma Kennard. Mary got a little nap on the plane and on the drive from Provo. It was dark after our visit, so we went to see the Temple Square lights before calling it a day.

Friday, we went to breakfast with Wendy, Rachel, and Andrew before visiting Elaine. Mary was having a hard time, so we left to let her nap. We got everything together and then had to wake Mary up so we could head over to Nana and Grandpa Christensen's house. We had dinner at Hires then went over. Grandpa was helping a client get situated for Christmas and Paul helped him carry some furniture and rewire an oven. While they were gone, Mary and I were hanging out with Nana when Mary took her first steps! I called Paul and Grandpa and told them they needed to come home and see her walk! They came but she didn't walk anymore, and they went back to finish up. They were out until 10 pm.

Saturday Paul and Grandpa headed to Home Depot to get a fridge for 1365 Wasatch when Grandpa informed Paul that they were actually going to pick up a fridge in Rose Park that he found on Facebook Marketplace. As soon as Steve said they were going to Rose Park Paul knew exactly what he was about to encounter, and Rose Park delivered 100%. The home was a complete disaster with garbage and pieces of furniture/cars all over the front yard, patio and inside the home. The guy selling the fridge came out with no shirt or shoes on despite it being a very cold Utah morning. The fridge itself was filthy but they brought it home and cleaned it up before taking it over to Steve's client. At home, Nana made Penny Ann pancakes for us then she watched Mary while I got ready for the day. When Paul and Grandpa got back, we played a few rounds of Sequence. I put Mary down for a nap. We shared the news that Paul was offered a lead cathode scientist position at a battery research company, Redwood Materials and that we will be moving to Carson City, Nevada at the end of January. We are very excited! We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner, exchanged gifts, then watched the Grinch before going to bed. Mary received a baby doll, unicorn, clothes, books, and toys from Nana and Grandpa. We are so grateful to them!

Sunday, we had a nice breakfast before heading over to Grandma Roberts for the day. We opened lots of gifts. Mary got a Curious George from Adam and Sonora, a Pikachu from Joe and Brooke, and lots of clothes and toys from Grandma. Thank you for all your kind gifts! We talked to Sam after church then we went to Grandpa Mike's grave and decorated it for Christmas. We then went to the church for our Christmas program. We had pizza, everyone had a musical number, and we acted out the nativity - Mary was Mary and Addie was the angel. Then we shared memories of Grandpa Mike and did a white elephant. By the time we got home, we were feeling pretty tired. We got our stuff together and went back to Nana and Grandpa Christensen's home for the night. It was a great weekend with everyone.
