Monday, Paul took Mary to Lattin Farms to look at their pumpkin patch. Mary got to see their goats, chickens, and ducks as well as pick out a pumpkin to carve, she had a blast! Nana made us a yummy dinner of homemade bread and chicken noodle soup that night. I had just finished feeding Katie and Nana was helping get Mary in her pajamas when Katie spit up a lot, I kind of freaked out and yelled at Paul to come help and he walked in the room to see Mary running around with her shirt on her head like a little caveman child while Nana was helping me get Katie cleaned up, it was quite the sight!
Tuesday, we took Katie to the pediatrician for her first visit and the doctor said she looks healthy and everything we asked her about is normal for newborns, so that was comforting. Katie is already a very new experience compared to Mary but we're glad to see she is healthy and doing well. We got Mary a flu shot while we were there then we did a quick Costco run, Paul treated us to a yummy Indian lunch, Nana spoiled us with cookies then we headed home. Katie's umbilical cord fell off, which was so fast! Mary was 7 days old when hers came off while Katie was 4 days old, and both were faster than we expected. Nana was so great to stay on top of cleaning and laundry, she really helped me be able to rest and not worry about the little things.
Wednesday, we went to Pyramid Lake and stopped at their museum on the way. They had some fun displays about the history of the Native American tribes of the region (the lake is on an Indian reservation). Then we made our way to the lake to skip rocks and build sandcastles, Mary was in heaven the whole time we were there.
Thursday, we made a fun breakfast to say thanks to Nana before she headed home. She got to Salt Lake in time to make dinner and surprise Grandpa. It was great having Nana come. We brought Katie home to a welcoming display of flowers, pumpkins, balloons, and a clean home. She made yummy food and helped so much with both Katie and Mary.
Paul and Mary have enjoyed going on little daddy-daughter dates each day. They go to the park or run errands and have fun together. We've had a relaxing weekend of watching conference. Something funny: Paul asked Mary, "Did you poop again?" and Mary replied, "ta-da!" Mary was decorating some of our pumpkins with flower petals and I took a picture of her with them, and she said, "Smile pumpkins!"
