Katie has been sleeping so well at night this week, I can't believe how much energy I have. I asked Mary if she could share a book with Katie and she said, "Yes, but not right now!"
Tuesday I was feeling claustrophobic so I decluttered and organized some closets. We were happy to see that Trump won the election.
Wednesday we met up with a group of moms at the park for the first time. We met Maria and her daughter Giovi over the summer and they invited us to join their mom group when they started meeting up again in the fall and this is the first time we were able to join. I was nervous to meet a bunch of new people and pack up both kids alone to go to the park but it went really well and it was nice for me to meet more moms with kids that are Mary's age. Mary likes finding treasures whenever we play outside and at this park she actually found a really cute watermelon clip that she has kept close this whole week.
When Mary woke up Thursday morning she got into bed with me and started playing quietly with her toys and I caught this little exchange: (talking in a high voice): Mom (watermelon clip), Mary (pink ring) "look mom I did a big poop!" "Good job!"
Later, we went to the exercise class and I was actually able to participate pretty well while holding Katie in the baby carrier. Most moms keep their baby in their car seat during the class but Katie is not a fan of that idea. I think she liked the movement too because she slept peacefully during the class and only woke up once we sat down to talk after.
In the afternoon, I took the girls on a walk to a park in the next neighborhood over from ours. Mary woke up early that morning and fell asleep on the way, so I ended up extending my walk and just took us back to the park close to our house to play for a bit before heading home and making dinner.
Friday we met up with ShaLay and her girls at the park. Mary loved playing with her friends and it was nice for me to catch up with ShaLay too. Later that day I found out that Mary calls Graham crackers "brown crackers". I think she hears brown when we say graham.
Saturday we played at the out-of-town-park which has a big treehouse themed playground. I asked Mary if she wanted me to catch her going down the slide and she said, "that's too dangerous!" then we climbed up to the tallest point on the playground and Mary said, "oh no! we're trapped!" Paul gave me Katie and played with Mary. He showed her Bug's Life and she has loved it so much, so they were reenacting some scenes and, without prompting, Mary picked up a leaf and said menacingly, "when the last leaf falls" (drops the leaf - Hopper's line from the movie). Paul: "Let's ride!" Mary: "yee-haw!" ... Mary: "Oh! My wings!"
Sunday, Mary walked into our room in her pj's and messy hair and let us know she was ready to go to church! Paul was released as the ward mission leader and got a calling to do activity days for the 8 and 9 year old boys in the ward.
