For New Year's Eve on Tuesday we went into Reno and had dinner at BJ's, Mary was hungry and had a hard time at the beginning but as soon as she got her food she was happier. Katie was happy for most of dinner but soon after we got our food she also got hungry. I ate half my dinner then fed her in the car and was joined shortly after by Paul and Mary. We got some pumpkin cookies at Smith's then drove home. We got home in time to go to the party at the church but I was tired and didn't want to tackle taking 2 kids by myself.
New Year's Day was lowkey. We slept in, took turns exercising, made a late breakfast together, went on a family walk, and Paul needed to go into work for a couple of hours in the late afternoon.
Friday we had a bit of cabin fever and got out of the house by going to the library for an hour in the afternoon. There was another little girl there that was very outgoing with Mary and her dad was busy with applying to jobs on the library computers so it forced Mary to overcome her discomfort and play with the little girl. The longer we were there the better Mary was with sharing and being kind. On the way out the librarian gave Mary a little bear holding a honey pot.
Saturday was a fun day. I went to the pool and did laps for the first time, I have a lot of room for improvement but I hope to keep going. Paul had one-on-one time with Mary by taking her to the park where they played together for a few hours. I'm glad they have that time to be together. We cleaned the house then watched the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Rebecca" because I finished reading the book it's based off of this week. The movie was true to the book but in books you always get more of the story and feel more of the emotions between people than they have time to develop in the movie.
Sunday we had church at 10:30 so there was time to do some things before church. We did some yoga and I prepped the chicken cordon bleu before we got ready. I thought it was Mary's first time to go to primary because I thought the sunbeam teacher conveyed that to me but she has one more year in nursery. After church we ate dinner then went on a quick walk before I had a relief society presidency meeting. We got the activity for february planned, so I'm happy with that. Debbie kind of gave me a disapproving look when I left "early" but I don't feel bad getting home to get to my babies.
Funny things Mary said this week: “outrageous!” “That was so weird.” “oh d-d-d-dear!” “Show it to me. Rabbits like carrots, Pooh Bears like honey, tiggers like bouncing.” “Okay, let’s play on the couch, but no thunder clap, no web up, and no gobble goo. Do you promise?” “Boat time!” Mom: “What does a T. rex eat?” Mary: “Watermelon”
