March 24 - 30, 2025

Monday we slept in a bit, Mary was out of bed once in the night and Katie was up once to eat. I pumped and cleaned up the living room while Paul showered. It's his last Monday off for the rotating schedule, he goes back to working Monday through Friday next week. We packed up and drove to Reno for some yummy donuts, kolaches, and I got a breakfast croissant from Sprinkle Donuts. Then we drove the rest of the way to Lake Tahoe and played on the beach for two hours. Mary was in heaven and did not care that the water was freezing or that she didn't have a swimsuit, she gladly played in the water in her jeans until they were soaking wet. We took them off in the car so she could be a little more comfortable driving home. We grabbed some Olive Garden on the way home for dinner then watched Cars as a family. Katie took a nap and I pumped then cleaned up a little bit during the movie. Katie woke up and we all went outside to play together in the last of the sunshine. We watched a little more tv before getting Katie to bed. I taught violin then pumped. I put Mary to bed for Paul and he promised me 3 minutes of zit picking on Sunday as payment. Katie got up twice in the night, once to eat and the other time she was settled by just getting her binky.
Tuesday I fed Katie and pumped. ShaLay and Ryan came to drop off their kids while they went to Reno for a special ultrasound. Their doctor told them the baby was measuring small and they were making sure nothing was wrong with the baby. The doctor in Reno said the baby looks proportional and healthy, they just pushed the due date from July 1 to July 9 to match the baby's growth.
Mary loved having Lydia, EverLee, and KinsLey over for the morning. It went better than I expected and the girls played well together. KinsLey missed her mom the most and kept wandering over to the front door. Katie took two short naps while the girls were over but she wanted to be part of the fun as well. EverLee was the most interested in Katie. After the Gochenour's left, I put Katie down for a proper nap, got lunch for Mary and me, and pumped. Katie was still sleeping so I exercised too. Katie got up and joined Mary and me for meal prep and cleaning the house. Paul got home a little early and stayed home with Katie while I took Mary to the store for some treats to bring home. We had family time then I put Katie down for a nap and pumped then showered. Katie got up and stayed with Paul while I brushed Mary's teeth. Paul and I switched and he put Mary to bed while I put Katie to bed. Katie napped and slept in the bassinet for the first time today, it went really well! (she has slept in the bassinet ever since, we still use the swing occasionally when Katie's awake and I have to pump or do something else). Katie just got up once to eat that night.
Katie was up first on Wednesday and hung out with me in her bouncer while I pumped. Mary joined us and I got her some breakfast and cleaned up a little bit. Katie took a short nap before we met up with friends at the park. It was a warm day and we found that Ponderosa Park is replacing their fence on the east side of the park. It desperately needs to be redone, everytime we have a windstorm (which is often) it gets blown down and leaves lots of nails and rough wood exposed to the young kids. I'm glad they are redoing it. After the park we got home and I put 101 Dalmatians on for Mary while I put Katie down for a nap and exercised. I was able to pump after that then play outside with Mary. Paul got home early and stayed with Katie while I took Mary to Walmart with me for treats. I grabbed Taco Bell for dinner and we watched Miss Rachel, a spin off movie about one of the Dalmatian puppies, and Avatar the Last Airbender. I got supplies together for my activity and put them in the car. I put Katie in her bassinet but she didn't fall asleep. I went to the RS activity. Debbie was there and was giving me a hard time about not getting there early enough, telling me the RS room wasn't big enough, a lot of people were going to come and we didn't have enough supplies, the canvases were too small, she can't help too much because she's out of breath, blah blah blah. It was fine, the tables were set up in time for everyone, only 6 people showed up and two of them didn't paint because the canvases were too small but I did tell everyone we were doing 2x2" canvases and Debbie approved them before I bought them. Ivan Young was actually helpful with helping us get the video set up. I got home around 8:30 pm and Paul had just gotten Katie to sleep. I put Mary to bed then pumped and looked through the music Paul Hardman had dropped off. He gave me the sheet music that had all the parts so I did a little arts and crafts and cut out the violin part so I could see it all on 1.3 pages instead of 15 sheets of music. I've practiced it 30 minutes a day and I'm hopeful that I can make it sound good by Easter. It is Savior Redeemer of My Soul. It has some high sections, so I'm nervous about those but I hope I have enough time to practice to get it sounding good.
Thursday morning Katie and I woke up before Mary. I took her 6 month pictures then Mary joined us. I put Katie in her bouncer and pumped then put her down for a nap and exercised. She just took a short nap and was woken up by a poopy diaper. I changed her then fed her. We went outside to play but it was too windy. I bathed the girls then put Katie down for another nap. Mary watched "Merlin Arthur" while I cleaned the kitchen and practiced violin. Paul got home early. I pumped then went to help Mary get in her playroom but Paul had locked the door because he was taking his work meeting there. The office was too cluttered so I rolled my sleeves up and organized it. Mary enjoyed all the new treasures we found but organizing the closet put me in a bad mood. Katie got up while we were cleaning. We took a break to feed her then I finished making dinner for the Saul's. We all got loaded into the car and dropped off the meal then drove to Fallon and got dinner at Los Gallos then dessert at Dairy Queen. We got home and watched Tangled together then I put Katie to bed and pumped. Paul put Mary to bed, I laid down with her after I was done pumping. Paul and I were arguing so I didn't want to go to bed. After I got Mary settled I cleaned the house then went to bed. Katie was up twice to eat in the night.
Friday Paul went to work and Mary got up shortly after. She got in my bed for cuddles until Katie woke up. I got breakfast for everyone and we played together then I put Katie down for a nap. I pumped, practiced violin, and played with Mary. Once Katie woke up we went outside to play, I gave Katie a bottle and then she took another nap. I got lunch for Mary and exercised then pumped again. Katie woke up and took another bottle. I showered and straightened up for when Paul got home. I finished making dinner for the sister missionaries and they picked it up. We watched Tinkerbell movies together and Katie seemed like she had a bubble in her tummy and was restless. Paul put Katie to bed and I put Mary to bed then I pumped. Katie was really restless and kept waking up. Most times she went back to sleep with a binky but twice she only went back to sleep with the binky after I had gotten up and heated up a bottle for her. She ate twice in the night and pooped in the morning and seemed to feel better.
Paul woke me up at 6 am and he was supposed to take Mary to dance class so I could sleep in but we ended up all going to dance. Mary and Paul both yelled at me about the color of Mary's leotard and I was so tired, I couldn't even think. We eventually made it to dance and I went in and got Mary situated, she got her tap costume for her dance recital in June. Then I went back to the car and fed Katie her bottle while Paul watched youtube. After dance we picked up groceries then went to Raley's for donuts and chocolate milk then got breakfast sandwiches at McDonalds. Paul went to work as soon as we got home and I pumped, cleaned our room, and put Katie down for a nap. I finished cleaning the house then I practiced violin. I was able to exercise while Katie was still napping then I played stickers with Mary. Paul got home with snacks and I pumped. I had to wake Katie up, she was understandably tired, then we watched movies together and played games. Katie took another short nap and I woke her up an hour later. I brushed Mary's teeth, pumped, took a shower, then put Katie to bed and finally got to go to bed myself.
Sunday I pumped first thing then bathed the girls. Katie got up at 7 am and was very ready for a nap when I put her down at 10 am. She slept the whole time Mary and I were at church and only woke up after we got snacks at Walmart and lunch at Arby's. We watched Balto as a family then Katie took another nap. I pumped and got my 3 minute zit-picking reward from Paul. Katie woke up after that and I fed her while Paul got his stuff in order for the week. I tried to sleep while he looked after the girls but I wasn't able to, so I came back out and had Mary finish watching Spiderman then we went into Grandma's room and played together. Paul hung out with Katie and gave her a bottle because she didn't seem ready for bed. I put Mary to bed, she got up once when she heard me filling up my water bottle. I got her settled and she didn't get up again. I swaddled Katie and she fell asleep quickly. I pumped, practiced violin, then went to bed. Katie got up twice to eat.
Funny things Mary said this week:
We were playing and she had a toy that she was using to blow air in my face but she said it was fire. Mom: "nom nom nom, I eat fire for breakfast!" Mary: "What? You eat fire for breakfast? What that mean? I don't understand."
We got into an argument and I told Mary to go to her room. As she walked down the hall to her room she yelled back to me, "I'm not the bad guy!" Whenever she sees a picture of a bat it is always a "fruit bat" and whenever she sees a sword, it is a "sword in the stone". Mary is getting more capable and good at climbing. She can climb up onto her bathroom counter without her step stool to look at herself in the mirror and can climb down safely again (almost every time, this week she went down a little too quickly and got a scrape on her knee from the corner of the drawer). She also climbed onto her big potty and the big potty at the church without any help and can go, wipe, flush, and pull her pants up all by herself. She can even wipe most of the poop as well, I'm so proud of her!

Katie is 6 months old!

Mary and Katie play in our backyard - it got up to 80 degrees this week!
