Monday was Memorial Day. I watered the grass and Paul made the most delicious scones for breakfast. We drove out past Fallon to Sand Mountain. I thought it would be fun for the girls to get to play in the sand, which was so soft and really nice, but we didn't realize that the thing to do there was to ride on 4 wheelers and other recreational vehicles. Luckily most people there were packing up and heading home, so we did still get to play in the sand but only stayed for an hour. We didn't want to get sand all over our phones or take extra stuff, so I didn't get any pictures of the girls there. We drove toward Fallon and stopped at Grimes Point. Katie fell asleep in the car, so Paul stayed with her and I took Mary on the very short trail to look at petroglyphs. We came here two years ago, it was nice to come back and was the perfect activity for Mary. She loved climbing and jumping on the rocks and the trail was the perfect length. We convinced Mary to leave the sand dune by promising her we would go to Grimes point but we called it 'rocks and lizards' so she would be interested. After that we got pizza from Little Caesar's in Fallon. We ate the cupcakes I picked up last week and had some watermelon. When it was about 4 pm we started prepping the charcoal grill, I helped Paul do it and it went great this time. We got new charcoal that wasn't soaked in lighter fluid. Paul grilled up the burgers, buns, and some onion. I boiled the corn and prepped the other veggies and the sauce for the burgers. Mary wanted to play hide-and-seek so I started counting and she hid but then I got distracted. A couple minutes went by and I heard her yell, "Mom! You're supposed to come find me!" I felt so bad and gave her my undivided attention until she was done with that game. We watched tv then I bathed the girls. Paul put Katie to bed and I cleaned up the house generally so I could have a head start on cleaning tomorrow, then I put Mary to bed and showered. Mary said, "My dress is dirty, it's so troubles."
Katie turned 8 months old on Tuesday! She is almost crawling, she rotates and bum shuffles and is getting very determined to move herself around. That has led to a couple of bumps on the head. She is also getting so vocal, I love when she starts to chit chat and just uses her voice when she plays. She has been more fussy lately. It is either because of more teeth coming in or that she has had trouble sleeping with the weather being so warm lately.
Katie woke up at 6:30 and Paul brought Mary to our bed at 7 am. Paul went to work at 7:20 and I got up shortly after that to get the girls some breakfast. I turned on the sprinkler and got myself some breakfast then did the dishes before going out to finish watering the grass. I cleaned up the grill then went inside to clean my closet, bathroom, and bedroom. I like to get those clean before I put Katie down for a nap so I don't have to wait for her to wake up to clean there. She slept and I took a short break from cleaning to play with Mary. I put on a movie for Mary while I exercised then I made us lunch. I sent Debbie the notes from Ward Council then continued with my normal cleaning. Katie got up and Mary did a great job playing with her. Mary asks all the time to play with Katie now, I love that she is interacting with her more and they love each other. Mary discovered that Katie loves it when she pretends to be a dog. Mary will do these high pitched barks and Katie will crack up with little baby laughs. I organized the cleaning closet and the playroom closet, which was zero fun but had to be done. I got the laundry put away, finished vacuuming, took out the trash and put Katie down for her second nap. I made cowboy casserole for Paul then meal prepped my lunches for the week. I updated Katie's journal a little bit then Katie woke up. I took her picture for the journal entry then we went outside and the girls played while I watered. Paul got home and watched Little Bear with the girls while I taught Peter violin. It is his last lesson for a while. He's figuring out his work schedule and hopefully he'll start taking lessons again next month. Lizzy won't be taking lessons in June either because they are traveling to Ohio to see Christa's sister for most of the month. When I was done teaching Mary said, "Mom, I'm cold! I'm brrr-ing!" (she wrapped her arms around herself and shook them to symbolize she was cold). Paul did guitar while I prepped Katie's bottled and brushed Mary's teeth. Paul put Mary to bed and I put Katie to bed. Paul was doing his ec's in the office and Mary snuck into our room while I was feeding Katie and she cuddled with us until Paul was done and found her. He put her back to bed. Katie was too hot to go to sleep so it took her a minute to feel cool enough to sleep. She got up twice in the night to eat.
Wednesday Katie got up at 6 am and went back to sleep with a bottle. Paul slept in because he was feeling under the weather. I got up and watered then both girls were up and I got them breakfast. I cleaned up, got us ready, and we went on a morning walk then I took them to the park for our park playdate. Katie napped in the stroller, which I was grateful for, so she wouldn't get too tired while we were there. I got so hot on the walk that I was pretty lethargic for the first part of the playdate. There were two playdates going one, the second ward's mom group was there and then our table was me, Lindsay, ShaLay, and Penelope joined us for a minute. All the kids played together, which was good. Mary influenced the kids to go play in the dirt, which is very on brand for her. When we got home I put Katie down for a nap and got lunch for Mary and me. Hannah FaceTimed us wanting to see Katie but I had already put her down for a nap. Mary and I made cookies and I cleaned up our mess then I played with Mary. Katie woke up and played with us. We watched some Miss Rachel then Paul came home early with some Papa Murphy's pizza. A couple hours later I went to the Taylor's house to put in a food order for them. I came home shortly after, luckily it took less than 30 minutes including driving. We watched Mulan then Paul put Katie to bed and I put Mary to bed. Mary came into our room 20 minutes later in tears and wearing nothing but her underwear and said she wants to wear her bunny dress to bed (I had changed her out of it into her pooh bear pajama dress). I put her in her bunny dress then put her back to bed. Katie was restless until 1 am then slept until 5:30.
Paul went to work early, around 6 am. I put Katie back to bed and hung out on the couch on my phone. Mary got up around 7 and we went outside together. She played in the dirt and I watered. We came in and had breakfast together. I got Mary dressed then Katie woke up and I got her dressed then I got myself ready and we drove to the church for exercise class. I always manage to be late, even when I get up at 6! After the exercise class we went to Walmart and I got some cupcake decorating supplies and rice cereal. Katie fell asleep in her car seat so I left her in it when we got home and got lunch for Mary and me. Katie woke up and we watched tv together then played. Mary told me a joke and I laughed, she followed up by saying, "I'm just a goose." I tried putting Katie down for a nap but it didn't take. I cleaned up around the house. Paul got home early and then I successfully got Katie down for a nap. Mary watches Little Bear while I try to get a nap in myself. Paul only stayed for an hour before he went to a doctor's appointment for a general check up then he went to a work dinner. It was with their Japanese team and they went to the axe throwing place again, they wanted to see Paul throw axes again because he did it really well last time, he said he did it well again this time too. Katie woke up around 6 pm. I took the girls into the office and got some things off my to-do list. I fed Katie some banana, cleaned up around the house and watered before putting both girls to bed alone. I tried putting Katie to bed first and just doing what I do for her naps but she didn't like that so I kept trying to comfort her in between Mary's bedtime routine (go to the bathroom, brush teeth, play in the playroom, read scriptures, pray, read a book, cuddle). Mary went to bed great then I cuddled Katie to sleep. Paul got home around 9 with some treats from Smith's. I had a donut but saved the rest for the next day. Katie was restless for the first part of the night and ate at 1 and 3 am.
Katie got up at 5:45. I got up and turned on the sprinkler. Mary got up at 7. We went out and I finished watering. Katie went down for a nap and Mary watched tv while I made lemon raspberry cupcakes. Katie woke up and joined Mary while I put in the filling and frosting on the cupcakes. I cleaned up my mess, bathed the girls and took them to the library. We stayed for about 40 minutes before one of the toys snagged on Mary's finger and she wanted to go home. We played in the grass for another few minutes then I got Mary a band-aid and we drove home. Katie took a nap and Mary and I played outside with the shark pool. I put a tv show on for Mary while I took a shower. Katie woke up and Paul got home with some Arby's. Mary was excited to get some french fries. Paul got some weights, an olympic bar, and weight belt in the mail today, he was excited to set up his gym space. Katie and I took a nap together. Peter cancelled his lesson for today because his work kept him late. We watched Bluey as a family and then we went out and watered. Paul put Katie to bed and I put Mary to bed. Katie ate at 3 and 6:30 am.
Saturday Katie got up at 7 and I took her with me to help wake Mary up at 7:15. We got ready for dance then headed out. It was Mary's last dance class of the season! We came home and Paul and Katie got ready then we went to Raley's and got donuts then we tried the new bagel breakfast sandwiches at McDonalds but they weren't great. We went to Costco then came home. Paul put away the groceries while I put Katie down for a nap. She couldn't sleep though because she kept pooping, she had four poopy diapers throughout the day. I cleaned up then took a shower. I got ready for the girls night then grabbed the cupcakes I made and headed out. Everyone seemed to like them and a few people took some home. I talked to Sarah Johnson and ShaLay most of the night. It was nice to have some time to talk to other moms. Paul texted at 10 pm and said Katie couldn't go to sleep. Most people were leaving so it was good timing. I got her diaper changed, wrapped her up, and cuddled her with a bottle and she went to sleep. She slept until 6 am.
Sunday Paul went on his walk and I cleaned up and watered while he was gone. I bathed the girls, fed them breakfast and put Katie down for a nap. Paul was distressed about work and feeling bad about not doing well with our goals this week. We had a good talk then Mary and I got ready for church. Katie woke up so I brought her to church with us so Paul could have some alone time to prepare for tomorrow. I taught sunbeams during the second hour. I made teriyaki chicken for dinner but Paul didn't like it because I burned the sauce. Katie and I took a nap together while Mary and Paul watched Princess and the Frog. Paul called Wendy with Mary and Katie then we switched and I watched Atlantis with the girls and Paul got some alone time. Paul practiced guitar then put Katie to bed. I watered then put Mary to bed.
